Westwood and the neighboring Westwood Valley are located in the northwestern part of Rancho Bernardo. Homes range from entry level condos, to mountainside estates. Most of these neighborhoods have its own clubhouse, complete with pool, sauna, and other amenities. All club activities are designed to meet the needs of its neighborhood. Membership to these neighborhood clubs is required for Rancho Bernardo residents. Westwood has its own community clubhouse and activities for the Westwood residents.
Referred to as "RB" by locals, Rancho Bernardo is also part of the Poway Unified School District. Elementary age students attend the local Westwood Elementary School. The students then attend Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School. Many technology and electronic companies are situated in the nearby industrial park, such as Sony, Siemens, and Hewitt Packard. Other nearby attractions includes shopping, restaurants, fishing, golfing, hiking, biking, and friendly dog parks.
